Walt whitman talks about the inclination towards uniformity and the goals and ambitions in life. He talks of the foolish and faithless men, and considers himself no better for not living upto his own notions of how he should be.
That if our target is truly ours only then would we experience the joy of achieving it. That we need to understand ourselves beyond the obscurities of the way of life. That we are here, we have an identity and we must play our part. That mediocre is not how we are, and mediocrity should not be the way of life.
